Wirral Wander Sunday 5, Aug

We started our ride from the Pier Head with 13 riders, we got the ferry across to Seacombe. The weather was sunny but overcast, we managed to dodge most of the wet weather as we skirted the edges of the clouds. Liverpool got the brunt of the thunder that we coud hear in the distance. We stayed dry.

Welcome to all of our new riders that came to have a ride with us for the first time - Pat, Collette, Hayley, Sam & Hildy. You all did very well & kept good pace covering 37 Miles in total. Thanks to our regulars for making our newbies welcome & taking care of them

We followed the coast though New Brighton, Down to Leasowe Lighthouse, were we had refreshments & a bacon Barm, we met up with two of Gills friends who joined us for the ride. Then down to GJ's cafe at Thursturson for lunch. We all made it to Hooton train station. Pat & Dot got the train back as they originally planned. The rest of us clambered over a style into a farmers field, that was a short cut. it was quite slippy but fun for 200 meters. then onto Port Sunlight were Hildy got the train. Brian Corser smooth talked the other girls into carrying on to Eastham & a pint, just in time to see Andy Murray win gold in the tennis.

By this time everyone had got their second wind & we all rode to the 'Swinging Arm' for another half, before Billy took us for the train at Hamilton Square. all home in Liverpool for 5:30pm, great to see so many riders joining in, and also to get support from the public who seem genuinely taked by the success in the Olimpics of Bradley Wiggins & cycling in general......................
