I had just finish teaching at St Brigids Stockbridge village when Gary left me a Text 'Are you riding tonight at 6:00pm, see you at Pauls'. I had already arranged to meet Dave,Colin & Richard for our Thursday night ride.
We met at the Railway Pub in Kirkby. It was cold, grey & overcast. We rode onto towards Maghull were we met up with Gary, Paul & Peter. Paul & Peter were on Mountain bikes, Gary & I were on Hybrids & the rest were on Racers anyway we carried on through Maghull & turned over the canal bridge towards Formby. One by one they overtook me until there was just Peter & me at the back. we carried on to the Formby Bypass then onto a forestry trail which slowed the racers down & gave us time to catch up. Just then Gary noticed he had lost his mobile phone, he was a bit upset as he had just finished entering all his new mates from Liverpool Magistrates Court I think most were barristers or drug dealers (Ha Ha) we carried on heading back towards Crosby when Dave picked up a puncture, again this gave us time to catch our breath back. As we neared Ince Blundell we turned off the Bypass & rode to Lunt, were we stopped at the Punchbowl for a pint of Cider & a chat about our weekend trip to the Isle on Man on 2nd July 2010. We headed for home, I took the canal towpath at Maghull at a nice sedate pace. Got home at 8:30pm & 38 miles later. Woke up on the couch three hours later to Victoria Wood in concert - HAPPY DAYS -
